Iphone 6 suddenly won't turn on

I normally leave my iphone 6 (which I've had for about 1 year and 9 months) to charge overnight, but woke up yesterday to my phone with a black screen. No charging icon, nothing. I couldn't turn it on, and no amount of charging it (with 3 different charging cables) or soft-resetting it helped. It worked just fine the night before when I plugged it in, and I haven't dropped it or spilled any liquids on it. I don't think there were any power surges because all of my other electronics worked fine the next morning. My only guess is that, having my phone set to auto-update, the operating system froze while it was updating to iOS 10. Any thoughts or suggestions? Other than taking it to the apple store, that is. I've read the apple pages regarding this, which more or less suggest turning it off an back on, charging it, or taking it to the apple store.

Sudden death in iPhone 6 while charging is most consistent with tristar chip failure. The tristar chip can fail in different ways, but it is connected to a data line that the CPU needs to receive communication on to boot---some tristar chip failures can cause no boot. The tristar chip fails from unprotected voltage entering the device from use of non-certified charging cables.

I tried to explain this in my description, but I tried all of these, i.e., the soft reset with the home and sleep buttons, turning it on regularly with just the sleep button, and charging it for at least an hour with multiple different cables. None of these get me past the black screen, and because it won't turn on it isn't recognized on itunes for me to restore from backup.

In that case, the other causes of sudden no power iPhone 6 could apply. All of them are hardware faults---vcc_main short on capacitor C5202_RF, or bad backlight area vcc_main cap. <---these details are in case you're interested in googling about these problems to learn a bit more. Unfortunately there is no quick fix. Hardware faults can be repaired, but you have to find someone experienced who microsolders on iPhones---there are a handful in every state.
If your phone is in warranty---definitely go to Apple since you'll be covered for hardware failures. Out of warranty--that's up to you. Apple will offer you an out of warranty replacement for $299.

Yeah I was hoping there was something else I could do. It's almost impossible to get into the apple store when I have lecture 9 hours every weekday and the genius bar appointments are booked through kingdom come around me.

Sorry there's no other ways.

It will be much easier to diagnose if the genius technician can have a look at it.

Try other Apple Stores if available.
